    Planning & reference

Reserva Nacional Ñuble offers a raw, untamed Patagonian experience far from the crowds. We love the dramatic glacial valleys and the chance to spot elusive wildlife in near solitude. The sense of discovery here is unparalleled.

    Gate Times

Reserva Nacional Ñuble is generally open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, access can be restricted during winter months (May to September) due to snow. We recommend checking the official CONAF website or contacting local authorities for the most up-to-date information on road conditions and opening hours, especially if you plan to visit outside the peak season. No advance booking is typically required for day visits, but overnight stays in designated campsites may need prior reservation.

    Tipping

Tipping is not mandatory in Chilean national parks, but it is appreciated for exceptional service. For private guides or lodge staff if you are staying nearby, a tip of 10-15% of the service cost is customary. For rangers, a small token of appreciation, perhaps a few thousand Chilean pesos, is a thoughtful gesture if they have gone above and beyond. It's best to tip in Chilean Pesos.

    Dress Code

We advise dressing in layers. For game drives and hikes, opt for neutral, earthy tones like khaki, green, and brown to blend in with the environment. Essential items include a waterproof and windproof outer shell, a warm fleece or down jacket, comfortable hiking boots, long trousers, and a wide-brimmed hat for sun protection. Evenings can get cool, so bring a warmer layer for camp.

    Photography

Photography is generally permitted throughout Reserva Nacional Ñuble. However, we urge visitors to be respectful of wildlife and avoid using flash photography, especially at close range, as it can disturb animals. Drones are often restricted or require special permits within national parks to protect wildlife and maintain the natural landscape. Always check local regulations before flying. The light in the early morning and late afternoon is spectacular for capturing the dramatic landscapes.

    Etiquette

Maintain a quiet demeanor on drives and walks to avoid startling wildlife. Always stay within designated trails and do not approach or feed animals. When observing wildlife, remain in your vehicle or at a safe distance. In camp, keep noise levels low, especially during quiet hours. Respect the natural environment by not leaving any trace behind.
