    Planning & reference

We love the raw, untamed beauty of Río Niblinto. The air here feels cleaner, the silence deeper, and the wildlife encounters more intimate than in more crowded parks. The sunsets are sensational, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple that we never tire of.

    Gate Times

Río Niblinto National Park typically opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM. It is advisable to check the official CONAF website for any seasonal adjustments, especially during winter months when access might be limited. No advance booking is usually required for day visitors, but for overnight stays in designated camping areas, reservations are highly recommended, particularly during peak season (December to February).

    Tipping

Tipping is not a mandatory custom in Chilean national parks, but it is appreciated for exceptional service. For private guides or lodge staff if you are staying nearby, a tip of 10-15% of the service cost is customary. For park rangers, a small gratuity or a thank you note is more appropriate than a monetary tip.

    Dress Code

We recommend dressing in layers. For game drives and hikes, opt for neutral, earthy tones like khaki, olive green, and brown to blend with the environment. Comfortable, sturdy hiking boots are essential. Bring a waterproof and windproof jacket, as weather can change rapidly. Evenings can be cool, so a warm fleece or sweater is a must.

    Photography

Photography is generally permitted, but please be respectful of wildlife and avoid using flash photography, especially at night, as it can disturb animals. Drones are typically prohibited within national parks to protect wildlife and maintain the natural environment. Always maintain a safe distance from animals when photographing them. The light in the early morning and late afternoon is magical for capturing the landscape.

    Etiquette

We advise keeping noise levels to a minimum to avoid disturbing wildlife and other visitors. Always remain in your vehicle or on marked trails unless accompanied by a guide. Never feed the animals. When observing wildlife, allow them to move freely and avoid cornering them. In camp, be mindful of shared spaces and maintain a quiet atmosphere, especially during resting hours.
